The film chronicles the liquidation of Memorial, Russia’s oldest human rights organization, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022. Its central figure, Memorial co-founder Oleg Orlov, is imprisoned for his anti-war pickets and for publishing an article about fascism in Russia, while refusing to renounce his convictions.

Through the links between historical memory and the present, and through the lives of Memorial’s members, the film tells the story of Russian civil society and the emergence of fascism during Russia’s war against Ukraine.

One day, the residents of the Dagestani village of Irganai woke to find water flooding their homes. The Irganai hydroelectric power plant had been put into operation without proper warning or preparation. Nearly 10,000 people saw their homes and orchards submerged. The damage was estimated at RUB 9.5 billion, yet the residents of Irganai have never received compensation. Flooded Livelihood tells the story of what remains today in a place once famous for producing Dagestan’s finest apricots.

Pussy versus Putin 2 (also known as Putin versus Pussy) continues the story of the members of Pussy Riot after their release from prison, following the events of the previous film.

The journey begins in Mordovia, a region where political prisoners have been held since Stalin’s era. There, Pussy Riot supports those who remain behind bars. As the film unfolds, the violence of Putin’s regime escalates: pro-Kremlin militants attack the activists with chemical agents, they are arrested and assaulted during the Sochi Olympic Games, opposition leader Boris Nemtsov is assassinated, and an artist from the collective Voina (War)—where Pussy Riot founders first emerged—is laid to rest.

The film culminates in one final act of defiance: a middle finger raised from the grave toward Putin, affirming that a spirit of resistance cannot be buried.

This award-winning documentary follows Pussy Riot, the feminist punk collective that became a symbol of resistance in Russia, and chronicles its confrontation with Vladimir Putin’s conservative regime.

Filmed from within the group from its earliest days, the film captures Pussy Riot’s clandestine actions and performances on Red Square and inside Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, as well as the arrest, trial and imprisonment that followed. In 2012, two members of the collective were sentenced to two years in penal colonies in Mordovia.

Through rare, intimate footage, the film offers an inside view of a secretive art collective whose provocative performances transformed political protest into a global cultural phenomenon.

A Road That Feeds Us documents an action by the Russian art group Voina (War), staged in August 2011 in the Moscow region as a critique of corruption within the traffic police. The action took place just before Vladimir Putin announced his return to the presidency for a third term, triggering the largest wave of civil protests in post-Soviet Russia and marking the beginning of the country’s turn toward authoritarian rule. The film also precedes the formation of Pussy Riot, whose future members include two of the film’s protagonists.
