Cinema as Artistic and Political Practice

We are a collective of filmmakers and artists working together since 2011.

Working across cinema and contemporary art, we develop long-term projects that combine documentary practice, political engagement, and artistic experimentation.

Our work includes documentary films, portraits, interviews, video works, performances, and exhibitions. We work with individuals, associations, NGOs, artists, and cultural institutions across Europe.

Our work explores human rights, political resistance, historical memory, migration, vulnerable communities, and the ways these realities are represented.

Our approach is rooted in the tradition of direct cinema. We seek to remain as close as possible to lived reality, working with care, patience, and minimal intervention. Listening, trust, and long-term relationships are central to our practice.

As politically engaged artists, we have always considered independence an essential condition of our practice. While living and working in Russia, we never collaborated with state institutions or accepted funding from either government bodies or private organizations. Our films were produced independently, without external financial support, and all rights remain with us.

We often make films about communities to which we belong ourselves, or with which we share an experience, commitment, or history. This proximity allows us to offer an insider’s perspective and to move beyond simplified or external representations.

For us, filmmaking is not only an artistic practice. It is also a way to preserve memory, amplify voices that are rarely heard, create spaces for dialogue, and act upon the world.

Our films have been screened at international film festivals, museums, art centres, and universities, and have also been broadcast on television.
